Twilight Princess: 11 Things You're Not Doing

Twilight Princess: 11 Things You're Not Doing

Twilight Princess Game Review

The most dark and serious of the Nintendo 3D Zelda games, Twilight Princess pushes the limits of graphic presentation to its final limits on the Wii's hardware. It's darker and more threatening than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs, nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is pulled into a parallel dimension called Twilight Realm, where he assumes the form of an Hylian and a wolf while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

The thirteenth installment of The Legend of Zelda is Twilight Princess. It was released for Nintendo GameCube and Wii systems in 2006. The game was highly acclaimed by critics, receiving perfect scores from various publications, including 1UP, CVG, EGM, and GamesRadar. Many consider it to be the most enjoyable game in the series and the most popular Zelda title on the PAL market.

Twilight Princess has a naturalistic, stylized graphic style that is reminiscent of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, but with a more sophisticated graphic engine. Twilight princess is the first game in the series that features an entirely directional control system instead of a fixed viewpoint like previous games. This modification was made to accommodate the Wii console's point-based interface. The GameCube version features a section at the back of the game, with mirror-image maps, for those who prefer an unchanging view.

Link transforms into a wolf once he enters the Twilight Realm. He also encounters Midna, an enigmatic creature. She informs Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group shadow beasts led the evil sorcerer Zant. She also explains that she's the real ruler of Twili but was taken over and cursed to her present form by Zant.

A short cutscene shows soldiers being killed by shadow beasts when Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle. Link and Midna then escape the castle via a tunnel to enter the Twilight Realm.

In the Twilight Realm, Link can utilize his wolf-like form to move around more freely around the world. He can also use his senses to navigate around the world. He can sense the ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also pick grass from certain patches and then whistle with it to summon an animal, for instance the Hawk or Epona. Link can also howl near the patches to summon a similar animal.

As with earlier Zelda games, music plays a large role in Twilight Princess. Link can play instruments like the flute or harp to draw and summon animals. He can also use his voice to command the wolf form. Additionally,  starlight princess x1000  could use his compass to guide him through the world and stay out of trouble.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda series is filled with colorful characters that leave a lasting impression on players. These unique and imaginative characters that emerge from toilets to pirates sailing across vast oceans, are the heart of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of the previous games, and introduces an array of memorable characters.

Link is introduced to new NPCs throughout the story who are not only interesting but also plausible. It's a huge step in the right direction that many of these NPCs actually play a part in the story, rather than just being a victim. NPCs such as Rusl, who explains how the forest has become more dangerous and kidnaps children, or Ordon villagers who sneak around as wolves while the children are being taken from them each has a distinct personality that feel genuine.

Other notable characters include Iza, who operates the Boat Rental Cabin as well as Iza's Rapid Ride in the Lanayru Province, Louise, the cat of Telma who helps Wolf Link locate a secret passageway in her bar and sewer system to the castle, and Faron who's spirit is the one who guides Link and Midna to the Forest Temple in the Eldin Province. The duo defeats the Fused Shadow possessed by Diababa and receives the first Tear of Light.

Midna, the princess of the Twilight Realm, is also one of the most intriguing characters in the game. She is a part of the Triforce of Wisdom and can switch between her human and her wolf-like impish form. She talks to Link about her experiences at the twilight, and about how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant who is the other part of the Triforce of Wisdom, is a wicked sorcerer, ruler of the Twilight Realm. The goddesses relegated him to the Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and taking over their territory. Midna can dispel Zant's power allowing him to change into his human form when required.

Epona is an improved horse that can be used in both the wolf and Hylian forms. Link can whistle at certain patches of grass to summon the animal (similar to Majora's Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series where players can identify their horse.

Theme

Music is one of the most important parts of any Zelda game and it can make the world feel huge exciting, epic, and thrilling. Twilight Princess' soundtrack is criticised for being inconsistent and intermittent and doesn't convey certain emotional moments. Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and other games have captivating compositions that explode at the right moment to create a feeling of grandeur and eeriness.

Toru Minegishi and Asuka Ohta were the composers for the music and sound design in Twilight Princess, with Koji Kondo as the composer in charge for the first time since Wind Waker. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a radical departure from the usual approach to the show, with a a minimalistic approach to music and arrangements. The majority of dungeon and field music begins with a single instrument that creates a mystical and atmospheric atmosphere for the player. For instance, the eerie music of Midna's lament makes use of a simple piano to create an overwhelming feeling of sadness for the player.

The most prominent examples are dungeon themes that have a dark and sombre atmosphere. This is evident in the Twilight Realm theme, which features a soundscape that could be appropriate for the soundtrack to a David Lynch film. The lack of melody and the classic arrangement of this track emphasizes its dark, eerie nature. Drones and odd patterns intertwine to create a bleak texture.

Link's song from his hometown, "Faron Woods," is a more uplifting and joyful song. This song uses a variety gentle sounds and strings to create a tranquil and secure experience for the player. The song is subtle references to the most famous scene in the franchise, since it features a melody that is reminiscent of the famous melody that plays at Ocarina of Time's start.

There are also some dynamic songs in Twilight Princess that change depending on where the player is and what they're doing, and what's going on. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of its theme for each region of the town. Central Square, for instance, has an edgier version. These variations add a wonderful addition to the world of Hyrule and add a sense of immersion and depth.

Story

Link's goal in Twilight Princess is to save Hyrule from the corrupted world known as the Twilight Realm. To do this, he adopts the form of a Hylian and an Wolf as well as being helped by a woman called Midna.

Midna was the original ruler of Twili but she was overthrown and cursed by Zant into her imp form. Link and Midna are instructed by the Sages of the past that only by defeating Ganondorf will be in a position to release them from their curse. The Sages reveal that the Mirror of Twilight causes the darkness to exist in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring, where they encounter dangerous monsters who kidnap children. With Wolf Link's acute sense of smell, they trace the children's scent to a bridge, and then move into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple and battle Diababa, obtaining the first Fused Shadow. After this, Faron informs them that the next stop is the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).

At the Lakebed Temple in Lanayru, Midna teleports Link to an erupting rock and uses her power to melt the ice at the bottom of Lake Hylia. The spirit of Rutela, the recently deceased Zora Queen, Rutela, then appears and tells Link that he must go to the Lakebed Temple in order to gain access to the treasures of Zora.

Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the horse Epona can be again ridden in Twilight Princess. In contrast to the set name used in the two aforementioned games, Link can now decide the name of the horse himself.

Midna and Link can recover the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. At the Palace of Twilight, the Sages inform them that Midna is actually the true ruler of the Twili however she had been overlooked by the monarchy, and then turned into an idol to obtain power. The Sages also inform them that the only way to defeat Ganondorf is to bring him back to the light and break the pact between Twilight and Hyrule kingdoms.
